The NEYDL’s final meeting of the season is scheduled to take place at Shildon on Sunday, July 16th.

We would love to see all Under 13s and above at this event so the club finishes strongly, we are anticipating being a position higher than the last match if we got more athletes there and doing more than two events each! , if you meet the requirements, we encourage you to join us. The best part is, it won’t cost you anything except for the transportation to get there.

On the day of the event, it’s important to plan ahead. Make sure to arrive at least an hour before the start time to secure parking. Once you’ve parked, locate the team. Look for the club flag a big Blue one, take some time to warm up for your events. If you’re unsure about which events you can participate in, just visit our club website at www.middlesbroughac.org.uk/nydl-northern-youth-dvelopment-league. Look for the link labelled “Division 2 Timetable” on that page to find the information you need.

Before the event, we kindly request that you speak to Andrew. He will be able to pencil in your preferred events and help you with any questions or concerns you may have.

Please note that to compete, you must be a club member and wear a club vest. These are essential requirements that you need to fulfil in order to participate. We look forward to seeing you there and making the last meeting of the season a memorable one!

Following the NEYDL meeting, there is another exciting event to look forward for all age groups. On Tuesday, July 18th at 6pm, our local league, the NYSD, will be hosting a track and field meeting at our stadium. It’s a fantastic opportunity to continue your athletic journey and showcase your skills.

To participate in this event, it is important to pre-register. You can easily do so by visiting www.nysd.org.uk/2023/06/19/msv-18th-july-track-and-field. This will ensure a smooth registration process and allow you to secure your spot in the competition. It will cost Under 11s £2.50 per event only 2 events you can enter at this age group, £3 per event over 11s 3 events in total Don’t miss out on this chance to further engage with the local athletic community and test your abilities.

Please note all races will be started by a gun!

U20 Charlotte Kelsey, over the weekend represented team Great Britain & NI, Charlotte delivered a stunning performance at Mannheim in Germany. On Day 1 competing in the 400m individual race, she secured a remarkable Bronze position and achieved the European Qualification Standard! On the second day Charlotte was part of the 4×4 400m relay team, which came in Silver position. Congratulations Charlotte from the club.

Meanwhile on Sunday the club team was at the NEYDL Monkton event. Team manager Andrew Simpson said, “our athletes once again showcased their remarkable skills and dedication, despite facing a challenging final position. Their exceptional performances in the events they participated in truly stood out. However, it is worth noting that the overall outcome was influenced by the significant number of unfilled events. Despite a few athletes taking on more than two events, had everyone been able to participate in additional events, our team’s final position could have been even more impressive.

One stand out athlete was Theo Gowland, a remarkable talent in the U13B category. Despite being in only his second year of competition for our club, Theo showcased incredible potential. Coincidentally, his first attempt at the discus event proved to be a remarkable feat, earning him 3^rd place on the all-time records for this event. His coach spoke highly of Theo’s abilities and expressed great optimism for his future in the sport”.

Looking ahead, our team has another thrilling NEYDL match scheduled for next month. The NEYDL manager Andrew Simpson said “It would be great to build an even stronger team, the addition of more athletes would be greatly beneficial. Their valuable contributions would undoubtedly enhance our collective performance and bolster our chances of achieving greater success”.

A great turn out for Middlesbrough on a Sunny Sunday at Monkton. There was a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium with many teams turning up to compete T&F. We all enjoyed the day and it was great to see our athletes competing, as a first time NEYDL manager. I hope I haven’t missed anything out but if I have, please do email me!

U13 Boys

Fantastic effort from Ben Naivaluruia, finishing a comfortable 1st position in the U13 100m and 2nd position in the 200m for the A string. A big well done to Akinjide Buluro who finished at 4th in the U13 100m for the B string and 4th in the 200m 3rd heat. Akinjide also took to a field event, coming 2nd place in the Javelin B-string.

A huge well done to Theo Gowland, finishing 2nd in the 200m B string, 3rd in the 75mH A string and 4th in the Javelin A string.

It’s good to see the u13 boys enjoying both track and field events for the team.

The 3 boys worked really hard during the day. Hopefully soon we will see the 3 joined by a 4th and enter a 4 x 100m relay!

U13 Girls

A fantastic effort from Lily Lloyd,the only Middlesbrough U13 Girl on the day, finishing 6th in the 100m A-String and 6th in the 75mH A-String. Lily also entered the Long Jump, but we are still waiting for the results for the LJ.

U15 Boys

A huge well done to William Atkinson, finishing 2nd position in the A-string and Freddie Lloyd, coming 2nd position in the 100m B-String. William went on to finish in position 1 in the 200m B-string and Freddie finishing 2nd in the 200m A-string. Freddie also went on to finish 1st in the Long Jump A string to round off an excellent multi-event competition.

U15 Girls

A team of 4, the U15 girls had a fantastic day.

In the 100m, all 3 heats saw Middlesbrough finish in a 1st position! With Whitney Ofor 1st in the A-String, Sophie Krenzler 1st in the B-String and Amelia Firmen 1st in Heat 3. Summer Swift also made her debut coming 7th in Heat 3, with her first ever track event.

The fabulous 4 also competed in the 4 x 100m Relay, finishing a very close 4th.

Whitney saw further success finishing 1st in the 200m A-String, and Amelia 2nd in the 200m B-String. Sophie also saw further success finishing 1st in the 300m A-String. A huge well done to all the U15 girls for such a fantastic effort on the track.

Sophie, Amelia and Summer went on to Long Jump finishing 6th in the A (Sophie), 4th in the B (Amelia) and 7th in the non-scorer (Summer), respectively. Summer also tried her hand at the Javelin, finishing 5th in the A-String.

U17 Men

A good turnout for the U17 men!

A huge well done to Finley Maynard, finishing 1st in the A-String of the 100m and the 200m, with a very comfortable performance. Team mate Thomas Watton, finished 1st in the B-String of the 100m and 200m, with another comfortable performance. Well done! Another well done to Evan Puttick, finishing 1st in the 200m and 2nd in the 200m non-scorers.

Well done to Akolade, debuting his first 200m event, finishing 1st position in the 200m non-scorers.

The fantastic 4 (Finley, Thomas, Evan and Akolade) then went on to compete in the 4 x 100m relay, finishing 1st position.

Another well done to Sam Archer, joining the team to compete in the 1500m and finishing 2nd in the A-string.

Adding to his track success, Thomas Watton sealed a 2nd position finish for the Long Jump.

U17 Women

A huge well done to Althea Johnson, finishing 3rd in both the 100m and 200m A-String, and team mate Louise Taylor finishing 2nd in the 100m B-string and finishing 2nd in the 300m A-String.

Moving on to the jumps, a huge well done to Emma Sedgwick finishing 2nd in the Long Jump A-String, and Althea Johnson who finished 4th in the Long Jump. Emma also went on to finish 1st in the High Jump, despite suffering an injury. Well done all!

The next match will be on the 2ist of May at Shildon, details are on the events calendar, it is a different timetable, come and take in an exciting athletic development league.

The NEYDL season is almost upon us, its only a few weeks until the first match at Monkton on Sunday the 23rd of April, details of which are in the NEYDL section of this website.

We have a new manager Andrew Simpson, to help organise the team a spreadsheet has been uplinked, if coaches and athletes please indicate what events they would like to do that would be helpful, as we have to declare pre season athletes who are entering, this ensures that the correct spellings of athletes are published in the results.
